Scholarship Information

Owensboro Youth Scholarship Application

The Owensboro Bowling Association, to further the interest in youth bowling, sportsmanship, fellowship, and interest in educational betterment for youth bowlers, hereby present scholarship funds to eligible student bowlers.

The Scholarship

Each scholarship shall be for one year, payable 50% per semester. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA with their educational institution. The sum awarded will be determined by the Owensboro Bowling Association and will be paid directly to the institution of choice at the time of the application. If the recipient does not claim the scholarship one year from the date of graduation from high school, all funds will revert back to the scholarship fund for future applicants.

The request for scholarship funds shall be for attendance at any recognized college or university, in addition to vocational or other training school as approved by the scholarship board. The recipient must be a full-time student carrying 12 credit hours or more or be classified as full-time under the rules of the training facility.

Eligibility Requirements
Any high school senior who meets the following requirements is eligible to apply for this scholarship.

  • The student must submit the scholarship committee's application with all required information by April 15, 2026. The application is to be filed with the Owensboro Bowling Association Secretary.

  • The applicant must have unimpaired amateur standing in bowling.

  • The applicant must be a current member of the Owensboro Bowling Association in good standing and bowling a current fall/winter league.

Application Process

1. Complete the scholarship application in its entirety.

2. Write an essay on your specific goals, your college plans, and how bowling has influenced your personal life.

3. List all community volunteer and school activities on a separate sheet from the application.

4. Give a copy of the “School Official or Counselor’s Evaluation and Data Sheet” to your school counselor along with a stamped envelope addressed to:

Ask the school official or counselor to complete the document and mail it to the committee with your current transcript, postmarked no later than April 15, 2026.

5. By April 1, 2026, check with your school official or counselor to make sure their section of the application is prepared to be sent out. The application must be postmarked by April 15, 2026, to be considered. Thank them for their help and cooperation.

There will be a brief interview with each applicant following the application deadline. It will be conducted by members of the Scholarship Committee.
